    Job Overview:

    Cracknell is looking for a Resident Engineer to work on a prestigious project in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia alongside our design teams.  The ideal candidate shall have a proven track record in a similar role, with strong leadership qualities working with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a large-scale project. 

     

    The candidate will act as a primary decision maker and a key coordination point between the Design Team, Client, PMC, Consultants and Contractors, leading to the successful delivery of the project in accordance with the design intent, programme, budget, and highest quality standards.

     

    Primary Activities:

    • Assume responsibility to lead a multi-disciplinary team to effectively administer and monitor construction of the project under the guidance of the Group Design and Technical Director.
    • Execute the role of the Engineer/Contract Administrator.
    • Establish effective communication and reporting protocols with the PMC and Client.
    • Monitor adherence to the construction programme by contractors as approved by the PMC, to ensure completion of the project within the timelines defined in the contract.
    • Advise the PMC/Client of any noncompliance/deviation from the approved program, reasons for delays, if any, and propose measures to mitigate delays to maintain the project construction schedule.
    • Ensure compliance with Client’s instructions issued by the PMC and ensure safety is maintained on site at all times and advise Client/PMC of any issues.
    • Arrange and attend technical and progress meetings as per contract requirements. This includes any meeting called by the Client, PMC or Contractor outside the regular working hours.
    • Maintain accurate records, prepare minutes of all the meetings and maintain up to date records and trackers of all documents.
    • Monitor contractor’s resources on site to ensure sufficient resources are deployed to complete the works as planned.
    • General monitoring and satisfactory execution of the landscape works including compliance with the quality standards, approved drawings and approved budget.
    • Review, check, comment/approve contractor’s shop drawings and advise Client/PMC of any dispute arising with landscape contractors or other stakeholders on site.
    • Review and approve materials and instruct independent tests by approved laboratories as deemed necessary to ensure compliance with the specifications.
    • Inspect works on site to ensure conformity with the design and approved method statements.
    • Prepare and submit daily, weekly and monthly progress reports in formats approved by the Client/PMC detailing progress of works, key issues, milestone achieved, compliance with approved program and any other important matters which arose during this period.
    • Attend meetings and site walks with Client/PMC whenever called for.
    • Evaluate actual work carried out on site and verify contractor’s monthly claims to assist PMC/Cost Consultant in preparing the payment certificates.
    • Assist Client/PMC during any dispute with contractor leading to arbitration or litigation until final decision is taken (excluding legal services and attendance at legal proceedings or similar).
    • Responsibilities include preparing design changes (from the design drawings)/developing solutions to mitigate unforeseeable site conditions encountered during execution of the works.
    • Preparation of necessary documents for variation orders detailing relevant works and reason for variation. The role is limited to assisting Client/PMC on technical aspects of contractor’s claims.
    • Attend local/overseas material or nursery inspections as per project requirements.
    • Arrange final testing/commissioning, handing over of the project, and approve all as-built records and O&M manuals for final submission to the Client/PMC.

     

    Technical Competencies:

    • Ability to manage and deliver a large project of varying technical complexity, size, and value.
    • Ability to foresee potential risks which may lead to delays in completion of the project or unsatisfactory quality of works.
    • Guide, direct and mentor the site team on all high-level technical matters and decisions.
    • Be able to interpret technical drawings and documentation, specifications and reports, proposals, technical and financial terms, contracts, and tender documents.
    • Demonstrate excellent software skills in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office. Knowledge of Sketch-Up, Lumion, Revit, and Rhino is an added advantage.

    Position Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree/Postgraduate in landscape architecture or architecture
    • CMLI or equivalent (preferred)
    • 15+ years’ experience in delivering large-scale landscape projects
    • High proficiency in spoken and written English. Arabic will be an added advantage
