Elevating the usability of an exclusive beach by creating dedicated access.
Within view of the iconic Bur al Arab, the opulent beach between the Al Qasr and Mina’a Salam hotels provides an exclusive experience for hotel visitors and guests. To solve the problem of the high-use stretch that caters to the needs of buggies and pedestrians, Cracknell redesigned the landscape to improve the look and feel of the beach and give different user types dedicated access. Pedestrians now enter the beach via a new winding, pedestrian promenade complete with lush planting that extends the serenity of the beach. Dedicated routes enable buggies to shuttle visitors and deliveries efficiently.
The three-year planning and construction project added new beach bars, water sport hurts, cabanas and restrooms, and was completed without affecting hotel operations.
