Inspiring Final EXPO Visits as KSA Pavilion scoops Two Top Awards

EXPO 2020 Dubai closed last week after 6 exhilarating months, and we are delighted that our initiative to enable everyone at Cracknell the opportunity to visit was a great success. Our design teams have all been impressed by the creative ideas and expertise shown at the World Fair, and through our EXPO visits we have learned about new sustainable practices and design methodologies from around the world. As a company of over 35 nationalities, we have been inspired by the myriad World cultures celebrated in such a dynamic way. Cracknell also participated at EXPO thought leadership events and spoke on Mindful Lighting Practices and the benefits of Locally Authentic Design. It was very gratifying to see our own design projects also featured at EXPO, such as the remarkable KSA Pavilion with its emphasis on sustainability, which was rated LEED Platinum. All materials were sourced locally as were the plants which required minimal water via an efficient smart automated irrigation system. The Pavilion’s landscape reflected the Kingdom’s beautiful native xerotropic flora which was recognised in two awards:  from Exhibitor Magazine – Best XL Pavilion, and from Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) – Gold award for Architecture & Landscape for Large Pavilions, of which we are immensely proud. In accordance with the EXPO’s original vision, the site now transforms to become the pedestrian and cyclist-centric District2020, and we see our Cracknell designed EXPO Park come to life in its legacy phase as a ‘green lung’ and vibrant active space for the nearby residential communities.
