Abdullah Albaroudi, Associate Landscape Architect based in Cracknell’s London studio, is featured on World Landscape Architecture (WLA) as part of a series celebrating voices from across the global design community.
Abdullah shares his perspective on the importance of design narrative in shaping meaningful and memorable landscapes. He talks about how every project is an opportunity to bring together culture, people, and environment into a clear and thoughtful story that guides the design.
He also reflects on how technology is supporting the design process. From early sketches and quick visual explorations using AI, to the precision and coordination achieved through BIM, Abdullah highlights how these tools help teams work more efficiently and explore ideas with confidence. At the same time, he emphasises that design should always be human led, shaped by creativity, collaboration, and a deep understanding of place.
A strong focus is sustainability. He believes that when environmental thinking is embedded from the beginning through the design narrative it naturally becomes part of the project. This approach helps create spaces that are not only beautiful, but also resilient and beneficial for the people who use them.
Looking back on his journey, Abdullah shares how staying open to new ideas and embracing emerging tools has helped him grow professionally. His experience with BIM in landscape projects, in particular, has opened up valuable opportunities to contribute in meaningful ways.
